We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated post-harvest specialist to oversee and enhance our post-harvest processes, ensuring compliance with Infarmed regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in post-harvest management, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement, specifically within the cannabis industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the post-harvest department, providing guidance and support to team members.

  • Collaborate with other departments to align post-harvest operations with overall company goals.

  • Oversee and work in all post-harvest activities, including but not limited to processing, packaging, and product quality control.

  • Work in tandem with the commercial manager to create demand plans and forecasts, ensuring revenue generation and profit maximisation.

  • Collaborate with the ERP manager to ensure compliance and traceability.

  • Collaborate with the cultivation manager to develop production plans.

  • Oversee tracking, monitoring, and optimising cannabis inventory at our facility and partner CMOs.

  • Oversee the entire supply chain and production process to ensure timely delivery of products to final clients or CMO partners.

  • Facilitate seamless communication between our company, subcontractors, and international clients.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to establish and maintain effective communication channels.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in Portugal and target export markets.

  • Maintain manufacturing SOPs and review processing metrics to enhance efficiency.

  • Uphold quality assurance standards and metrics.

  • Maintain integrity of cleaning and disinfection of the Processing rooms and Dry Rooms

  • Identify areas for improvement and develop strategies for enhancing efficiency and profitability.

  • Support commercial operations by providing expert post harvest insights and decisions- deliver samples to our lab in Lisbon.

Harvesting:

  • Plan and oversee the harvesting process to ensure timely and efficient crop removal.

  • Coordinate with the cultivation team to determine optimal harvest times and harvest schedule.

Drying and Curing:

  • Manage the drying and curing processes to ensure cannabis is processed to the highest quality standards.

  • Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) to optimise product quality.

 Trimming:

  • Supervise the trimming team to ensure consistent and high-quality trimming practices.

  • Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for trimming.

 Processing:

  • Oversee the extraction and processing of cannabis products.

  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout the processing stages.

 Packaging:

  • Manage the packaging team to ensure products are accurately weighed, labelled, and packaged.

  • Ensure packaging meets regulatory and company standards.

Inventory Management:

  • Track and manage post-harvest inventory, including raw materials and finished products.

  • Maintain accurate records of product weights, quantities, and conditions.

 Compliance:

  • Ensure all post-harvest activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for regulatory inspections and audits.

  • Prepare and present reports on post-harvest activities, including yield, quality, and efficiency metrics.

Quality Control:

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure product consistency and safety.

  • Conduct regular inspections and testing to identify and address quality issues.

  • Collaborate with the QA team to maintain high-quality standards.

Maintenance:

  • Ensure that all internal and external maintenance is made in timely manner and according to schedule.

  • Train, and manage post-harvest staff.

  • Develop schedules and workflows to maximise team efficiency and productivity.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, quality, and excellence within the team.

  • Proven leadership experience in a post-harvest management role.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Manage and optimise post-harvest and commercial operation processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in English and Portuguese

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, biology, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a post-harvest management role, preferably in the cannabis industry.

  • Strong understanding of cannabis cultivation and post-harvest processes.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Proficiency in inventory management and tracking software.
